Updated Future Plans

I have identified that HSU, is still in the infancy of exploring how AI can support the educational disciplines associated with healthcare education as well as the impacts AI has on academic misconduct. The focus for this year’s upcoming annual Teaching and Learning Conference at HSU is ‘The Future of Generative AI – A Vision for Healthcare Education’ where I will be delivering a presentation on AI activities from the learning technology team as well as facilitating breakout discussion groups on how we move forward as an institution. An AI working group for staff is planned to convene within the next 2 months, I will be playing an integral part of the group as this will inform both my professional practice as a learning technologist, but also as an educator. One of the first areas for investigation will be redefining institutional policy on how AI is adopted into our teaching and learning practices, and how we look to mitigate academic misconduct through the misuse of AI. As part of that journey, I will also investigate the implementation of the Turnitin AI reporting tool. I also plan to explore the many AI functionalities and integrations currently available to staff on our suite of licensed software and hope to design interactive training sessions and materials to support the use of the available AI tools.

Furthermore I will be adopting the use of AI as part of my PGCert unit and will be focussing on the use of AI generated avatars and assistants can support and enhance professional practices in higher education and the NHS.
